The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers reveal that we have to ask: Will a Summer Newman (last played by Allison Lanier) recast return for revenge on Cane Ashby (Billy Flynn)? Could this be the perfect setup for a new “enemies to lovers” story?
Now that Lanier has exited the role of Summer, fans are wondering what the future holds for the character.
The show hasn’t announced plans to recast yet, but it’s reasonable to think they’ll indeed bring Summer back in some form down the road.
If that happens, Hunter King might be willing to slide back in her old role.
If not, then Y&R could cast someone else and let Summer come home with a brand-new face.
Either way, Summer needs to return to Genoa City sooner or later – and when she does, perhaps she could want Cane to pay!
Summer and Chance Chancellor’s (Conner Floyd) romance didn’t work out, but that doesn’t mean she stopped caring about him.
After hearing the news about Chance’s demise, it could bring old feelings rushing back and leave Summer wondering what might’ve been.
Chance and Summer might’ve found their way back to each other if she was able to get over her lingering love for Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor).
Regardless, Summer might blame Cane for summoning Chance to that party and letting his assistant, Carter (Vincent Stalba), go wild.
If Cane had just left Chance alone, he wouldn’t have faced a grim fate.
Of course, Summer will fume over Cane holding Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) hostage and allowing him to get seriously injured as well.
Nick could’ve died, so that’s certainly a good reason for Summer to be angry.
On top of all that, Cane is going after Chancellor and even Newman Enterprises.
We’re seeing Cane make major power plays that affect Victor Newman (Eric Braeden), Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) and the whole Newman family.
It’s easy to see why Summer might want revenge on Cane, so what if her comeback storyline involves targeting him?
Summer might try to seduce Cane as part of some big plot to gain the upper hand.
It’d be fun to watch Summer manipulate Cane as part of a vengeful scheme and potentially fall in love with him for real in the process.
After all, Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) is nowhere near ready to reunite with Cane, so the show could work some other romantic angles in the meantime.
Whatever the case, Summer might come home thinking Cane’s the enemy and make him her lover eventually!
